Team Dream 2011 Details
Ok Fellas,
Here is the rundown for next weekend’s Team Dream 2011! This is year number 9—truly a year to celebrate! The event takes place Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 12 in Waskesiu.
This year’s Dream will see a few changes in both personnel and format. Rejoining the Dream this year will be Ryan Shuya and Bobby J. Welcome back boys! Glad to have you back in the field! We would also like to welcome Chris Knorr, a newcomer to the dream. Chris has known Trav for some time, and currently works at Point2 with Naids and Shuya. Welcome aboard, Chris!
Tee Times
Tee times on Saturday run a little earlier this year, beginning at 11:00 AM. Do your best to arrive early enough to allow plenty of time for check-in and time on the range, as it may be busy. Sunday’s tee times begin at 10:15 AM.
Green Fee rates at the Lobstick Course in Waskesiu run around $70.00 (cart included). This may be paid in the clubhouse upon arrival.
Accommodations
Once again, we will be staying in the Armstrong-Hillcrest cabins in groups of 4. The cost for accommodations is $50.00 per person and is payable to me (Jay). Check-in will occur following Saturday’s round.
Format
In the spirit of creating fair matchups to everyone which also provide a variety of playing partners, we have decided to try out a new format this year. The new change is really quite groundbreaking, and I have taken the time to alert various members of the media about our recent changes to the Dream. They, too, have expressed their excitement and are likely to bombard us with cameras and questions upon our arrival. Here is what it will look like:
- Two Teams of 8 Players (Let’s call them “Sides”)
- 2 Foursomes per side
- Each foursome works together to post a “Team Score”.
- The “Team Score” is determined the following way:
- Each player plays out the hole with their own ball. On Hole 1, the lowest score by any player is recorded as the foursome’s score for that hole. On Hole 2, the two lowest scores are recorded as the foursome’s score for that hole. On Hole 3, the three lowest scores are recorded as the foursome’s score for that hole. On Hole 4, you reset back to the lowest score being recorded as the foursome’s score for that hole. Foursomes follow this same pattern throughout the eighteen holes. At the end of the round, a “Team Score” will be determined for each of the foursomes.
- At the end of Day 1, the foursome with the lowest “Team Score” earns 3 points for their side. The foursomes with the second and third lowest scores will earn 2 points for their side. The foursome with the highest “Team Score” of the day earns 1 point for their side.
- On Day 2, new foursomes will be created on each side, but will continue to follow the exact same scoring format as Day 1.
- The side with the most points earned is awarded the coveted “Team Dream Icon”!
I truly think, in my best judgment, ( I plan for it to be impaired for much of Saturday and early Sunday morning), that this new format will give everyone plenty of variety, but will still lend itself to the competitive team aspect and trash-talking that we all adore.

Carpooling
Once again, let us use this site as an avenue for making carpooling arrangements. Simply post a comment if you are willing to drive. Typically speaking, if you did NOT drive last year, you should make an effort to volunteer this year. (This is kind of how we have been doing it). Naturally, please split the cost of gas among the members of your vehicle.
Food/Extra Costs
It is our hope to enjoy some happy hour/post-round cocktails on Saturday, (as we will be finished a little earlier than normal), then head over to Pizza Pete’s to make fools of ourselves and dine on some of the world’s best pizza. If it is “booked” this year, I’m throwing Pete’s hand in an auger. I can’t stand to be snubbed time and time again! It was suggested, however, that we could also go to the clubhouse to eat supper, as they have quite good fare. We’ll see when we get there.
You may also want to pack some snacks for your cabins. Hotty-Dogs are a good idea late at night.
Well boys, enjoy your last week of preparations for Team Dream 2011! Make sure you go buy yourself something golf-related to reward yourself for making it into this year’s field. We’ll see you all up North!
Yours in Team Golf,
Jay

My team rules. Thanks Jay for not putting me on Kipp’s team. I hate him.
Is this just spillover from when he defeated you in match play on the 18th hole, some 4 or 5 years ago?
That was incredible.
However, you will have your retribution this year. We should win without too much trouble. I gave their team both Kipp and Shuya. No one can win with both of them on their team.
Was that the year he was caught using non-regulation golf balls?
Awesome. Thanks for organizing this guys.
This will be good. You sons-a-bitches don’t stand a chance.
VIVA LA DREAM!
I am also glad that I dont have to deal with Naids having to look in the bush every second shot. shuya you are tops in my book. We will crush these clowns.
I have to agree with Trav on this one, thanks guys for your unwavering dedication to the Dream. As far as driving goes, I can drive. I would prefer to take my car (so I’m thinking me plus two, unless we could throw clubs in with someone with a truck, then I could take more), but I could also take my truck if that doesn’t work.
PS – Team B forever!
I can’t drive this year. Since we only have one vehicle at this time, I should probably leave it with Michelle and Brighton.
PS – Team A forever! (at least until next year)
Naids I think you should go buy a 12 passenger van. I drove last year and steph wants to drive both of our vehicles at the same time on the weekend.
pizza petes better fricken be open….. frick
team A-holes!
I’m getting 2 pizzas.
Two of the big pizzas, or two of the pansy-ass small ones?
The big-ass ones, of course. Actually, I’ll just get how ever many pizzas they have left.
I am in the same situation as Naids on the driving front. Somehow Jo convinced me that being able to drive our child around is more important then a golf trip. TEEEEAAAM A – TEEEEAAAM A (to the tune of Beer Can Fan Can)
In case the less smart people on Team B didn’t notice, I have put a weather app along the right side of the page which will show the current conditions for Waskesiu.
I think it’s broken.. It keeps saying it is going to rain from Saturday to the following Thursday.
I suppose that’s better than last year’s snow?
Ok Boys, I’ll drive the heavy Chevy. I can take 4 + me. Last time I checked that equals 5. I was smart this year and gained 20 lbs. of insulating fat so that the cold would not affect me.
OK. Who is jumping in with Clinto? By Kipp’s count, we have 12 people going from S’toon. Here is what we have so far:
Trav – taking Chris, Kipp, TBags
Clinto – taking ???
Noodle – taking Brett
??
That leaves Gord, Naids, Shuya, Ryan C., and me to be divided up between Clinto’s vehicle and one other.
We can assume the Wilkie guys and Bob will get there on there own.
I will jump in with Clinto.
Are we sure we want to trust Kipp’s math? I’ve seen him keep score at golf, and he miscounts all of the time. Based on this knowledge, I would say that 12 is actually lower than the actual number.
Everyone on Team B cheats. I can’t wait to see their scores come in. It should be funny.
The only one I’m willing to suggest is honest is Chris. And I’ve never met him. Just willing to give him the benefit of the doubt —at least for now.
No, he’s a liar too.
Shuya, you and Ryan C. should jump in with Clinto, if that works. Naids, Gord, and I can go in a separate vehicle.
Ya, that works for me. Clinto, you still have room for two Ryans?
Sounds good Ryan^2. Is there a convenient location that we could meet in the a.m.?
I’m in the middle of the city, so everywhere is close. Let me know.
How about the Co-op Home Center on C and Circle? Home center
Ok Ryans, how does Timmy Ho’s on Circle (by Home Depot) around 7:45 sound? Is that leaving us too much/too little time?
Alright Jay, that sounds fine with me.
So whoever is driving out of Gordo and Jay, I have a favour to ask.
On the way to McDonald’s on Sunday, can we briefly stop at Elk Ridge? That’s on the way, right? I can’t remember.
I’m shooting a wedding at the new hotel and just need to give it a quick scout to know what I’m dealing with. I will likely not get there again before the wedding.
Hey Naids “shoot” this!!!! *points to huge cock between my legs* Team A sucks balls!
ummmmmmmm my cock…not someone elses…………..
Wait a second…so, we’re The A Team!? It’s no Airwolf, but it’s still pretty effing awesome!
Sorry B Team, but I guess you don’t get any cool ’80s references.
I hope Horse Face is there.
LOL – wait a minute… What would Michelle think of that? Oh, no, it’s probably all good Naids. You two already have pets, so one more wouldn’t hurt.
I’m killing myself watching that video from 2007. So far I just got through the intro where everyone is introduced. 20 more minutes of hilarity to come.
TWO MORE DAYS BOYS! WOOOOO!
For anyone who wants to watch the 2007 video, you can download it using the links below. For some reason it is not available to stream where I initially had uploaded it. I tried putting it on YouTube this morning, but it exceeds the limit for length (and probably awesomeness).
Small: http://films.thinkingh.com/team-dream/2007/Team-Dream-2007-360×240.wmv
Large: http://films.thinkingh.com/team-dream/2007/Team-Dream-2007-480×360.wmv
Unbelievable. Absolutely unbelievable. We must have another one some year. I vote we all chip in so that Naids can take the following week off work to work solely on a 2011 video.
If I ever do another one (and I would like to) I would not golf that year, because then I could just focus on getting the footage.
Oh, I would also need a crew of at least 10 people, and funding from the National Film Board of Canada.
My lawyer says you’ll have to send me a release form to post that on Youtube. And I’ll need some cash of course. On second thought……kicking your teams ass this weekend will do nicely in lieu of payment. Team A still sucks balls btw. In fact, that’s your team name. “Ballsuckers”
This weekend would be so much more fun if there weren’t so many people from Team B coming.
Just because it looks Team A look like even bigger losers than they already are.
make that “makes” not looks
Plus it will also suck because Team B doesn’t speak English. It will make things very difficult.
You’re english has certainly improved, Naids. You know…………being foreign and all. WOOOOOOO!!!!! (Ballsucker)
Can we just go now!!!!!
Frick. I just watched the video again. It had been a while. Laughed my face off.
I think each one of our foursomes next time needs one of these.
