Team Dream 2011 Details
Ok Fellas,
Here is the rundown for next weekend’s Team Dream 2011! This is year number 9—truly a year to celebrate! The event takes place Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 12 in Waskesiu.
This year’s Dream will see a few changes in both personnel and format. Rejoining the Dream this year will be Ryan Shuya and Bobby J. Welcome back boys! Glad to have you back in the field! We would also like to welcome Chris Knorr, a newcomer to the dream. Chris has known Trav for some time, and currently works at Point2 with Naids and Shuya. Welcome aboard, Chris!
Tee Times
Tee times on Saturday run a little earlier this year, beginning at 11:00 AM. Do your best to arrive early enough to allow plenty of time for check-in and time on the range, as it may be busy. Sunday’s tee times begin at 10:15 AM.
Green Fee rates at the Lobstick Course in Waskesiu run around $70.00 (cart included). This may be paid in the clubhouse upon arrival.
Accommodations
Once again, we will be staying in the Armstrong-Hillcrest cabins in groups of 4. The cost for accommodations is $50.00 per person and is payable to me (Jay). Check-in will occur following Saturday’s round.
Format
In the spirit of creating fair matchups to everyone which also provide a variety of playing partners, we have decided to try out a new format this year. The new change is really quite groundbreaking, and I have taken the time to alert various members of the media about our recent changes to the Dream. They, too, have expressed their excitement and are likely to bombard us with cameras and questions upon our arrival. Here is what it will look like:
- Two Teams of 8 Players (Let’s call them “Sides”)
- 2 Foursomes per side
- Each foursome works together to post a “Team Score”.
- The “Team Score” is determined the following way:
- Each player plays out the hole with their own ball. On Hole 1, the lowest score by any player is recorded as the foursome’s score for that hole. On Hole 2, the two lowest scores are recorded as the foursome’s score for that hole. On Hole 3, the three lowest scores are recorded as the foursome’s score for that hole. On Hole 4, you reset back to the lowest score being recorded as the foursome’s score for that hole. Foursomes follow this same pattern throughout the eighteen holes. At the end of the round, a “Team Score” will be determined for each of the foursomes.
- At the end of Day 1, the foursome with the lowest “Team Score” earns 3 points for their side. The foursomes with the second and third lowest scores will earn 2 points for their side. The foursome with the highest “Team Score” of the day earns 1 point for their side.
- On Day 2, new foursomes will be created on each side, but will continue to follow the exact same scoring format as Day 1.
- The side with the most points earned is awarded the coveted “Team Dream Icon”!
I truly think, in my best judgment, ( I plan for it to be impaired for much of Saturday and early Sunday morning), that this new format will give everyone plenty of variety, but will still lend itself to the competitive team aspect and trash-talking that we all adore.

Carpooling
Once again, let us use this site as an avenue for making carpooling arrangements. Simply post a comment if you are willing to drive. Typically speaking, if you did NOT drive last year, you should make an effort to volunteer this year. (This is kind of how we have been doing it). Naturally, please split the cost of gas among the members of your vehicle.
Food/Extra Costs
It is our hope to enjoy some happy hour/post-round cocktails on Saturday, (as we will be finished a little earlier than normal), then head over to Pizza Pete’s to make fools of ourselves and dine on some of the world’s best pizza. If it is “booked” this year, I’m throwing Pete’s hand in an auger. I can’t stand to be snubbed time and time again! It was suggested, however, that we could also go to the clubhouse to eat supper, as they have quite good fare. We’ll see when we get there.
You may also want to pack some snacks for your cabins. Hotty-Dogs are a good idea late at night.
Well boys, enjoy your last week of preparations for Team Dream 2011! Make sure you go buy yourself something golf-related to reward yourself for making it into this year’s field. We’ll see you all up North!
Yours in Team Golf,
Jay
